Competences

A1 To publicly present ideas, problems and solutions in a logically structured way, both orally and in writing, at a C1 level of Spanish, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

A3 Utilizar las nuevas tecnologías de la información como instrumento de trabajo intelectual y como elemento esencial para informarse, aprender y comunicarse.

A4 To manage and use social and interpersonal skills in the relationships with others and work cooperatively in multidisciplinary groups.

C 103 To analyse and evaluate the different components of the Physical Education curriculum in Pre-School, Primary and Secondary Education so as to be able to implement them in the teaching practice.

C 104 To know and evaluate the importance of Musical Expression throughout the children and adolescents’ psycho-evolutionary development

C 105 To know about historical music, Folklore and dancing, showing respect for the different musical manifestations, present in the surroundings and mass media, through their listening, study and interpretation, obtaining one’s own evaluation criteria.

C 106 To acquire the necessary skills to formulate musical ideas through the use of voice, instruments and audition so as to increase expression opportunities.

Themes and contents

Brief description of content

El contenido básico de esta asignatura se centra en el trabajo de la interpretación musical vocal e instrumental y su aplicación a contextos educativos en Educación Primaria, desde el plano de la competencia y la actuación. Se hará hincapié en los ejes de percepción - escucha, y expresión musical, tanto vocal como instrumental y por movimiento corporal, relacionados con los objetivos y competencias establecidas por la legislación para la etapa de Educación Primaria.


Subject units

Unit 1: Musical direction and vocal and instrumental ensembles in the educative context.
Contents: classical music, jazz, rock, bands, orchestras, etc. The director’s role. Direction techniques.


Unit 2: The musical language of instrumental ensembles.
Contents: rhythm, harmony, melody, form, texture and expression. Conventional and unconventional notation.


Unit 3: Vocal expression
Contents: popular works, songbooks and folklore compilations in education. Repertorios populares, cancioneros y recopilaciones folclóricas aplicados a la Educación


Unit 4: Instrumental expression
Contents 4: instrumental expression


Unit 5: Composition and musical improvisation
Contents: conventional and unconventional scores, reading and writing. New technologies for music writing.


Unit 6: Didactic resources for music teaching and interpretation.
Contents: new pedagogic trends in music teaching. Pedagogical methodologies for instrumentation.


Unit 7: Research in music teaching and implementation in educative contexts.
Contents: Didactic uses of ICT and audiovisual resources. Adding soundtrack to children’s audiovisual aids and creation of resources.

Sistemas de evaluación

The subject will be assessed through written or oral exam with questions related to the course contents. This test will count 50% of final grade.

A teaching and learning activity on each unit will be assessed in every seminar. For this reason, attendance is compulsory. The total assessment of these activities will count 50% of final grade.
